Inside sources are confirming that the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup is going to have a V8 option. The V8 will be the same small block 5.3L V8 that is in the 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha. The engine is good for 295 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.
Currently the 2007 Colorado has two engines: A 2.9L inline-four cylinder with 185 horsepower and a 3.7L inline five-cylinder with 242 horsepower.
If GM does indeed put the V8 in the Colorado it will go head to head with the Dodge Dakota, which is the only other mid-size truck that offers a V8. The Top selling Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger pickups are going to be left in the dust…
