Chevy has announced that the all-new 2016 Malibu will offer a hybrid version that borrows technology from the 2016 Volt. The 2016 Malibu Hybrid will have a combined mpg rating over 45 mpg, which is higher than the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata hybrids.

Cadillac has announced the introduction of a range of new V6 engines, led by the new 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 that will power the upcoming CT6 sedan. In the 2016 CT6, the 3.0L Twin Turbo will generate an estimated 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque.

Chevy has announced that it will reveal a refreshed 2016 Chevy Equinox SUV next week at the Chicago Auto Show. This teaser photo reveals that the 2016 Equinox is going to get a new front bumper and restyled headlights. There also appears to be some new body cladding and updated alloy wheels.
Even though the Equinox is about to get a refresh, Chevy is quick to point out that sales of the Equinox continue to grow. In January sales of the Equinox rose 34 percent compared to January 2014.
"In one of the industry's most competitive segments, the Equinox continues to win customers with its value-driven balance of performance, versatility and personal connectivity," said GM North America President Alan Batey. "It also represents the depth of Chevrolet's strong SUV lineup, ranging from the all-new Trax small SUV and Traverse to the redesigned 2015 Suburban and Tahoe."

Buick just surprised everyone by unveiling the new Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show. Avenir, which is French for "future" is a new interpretation of traditional Buick cues. Buick says that the design of the Avenir was created by a global team of Buick designers and sculptors who were inspired by historic Buick concepts that pushed traditional boundaries, shaped future Buick models and influenced the entire auto industry.

Could GM be working on a crossover version of the Volt? Back in 2011 General Motors filed a trademark application for the "Crossvolt" name, but then in November of this year that trademark expired.
