A few months ago Ford announced plans to kill off its entire car lineup in the US, with the exception of the Mustang and the new Ford Focus Active. Now it looks like plans have changed and the Focus Active will not be coming to the US, due to the new tariffs from the Trump administration.

Jalopnik confirmed the decision to not bring the China-built Ford Focus Active to the US with Ford. “We made a business decision to stop development of the Focus Active crossover because of the negative financial impact of the new tariffs on vehicles imported from China.”

So there you have it, after a few more years the Mustang will be the only car with the Ford badge on the hood. The Fiesta will bow out sometime in 2019 and the Fusion still has a few more years until it disappears. Speaking of the Fusion, there was a recent report that claimed that the Fusion could live on as a Fusion Active “high-roofed hatchback” but Ford hasn’t confirmed the report.
