Toyota is showing off the GR Super Sport Concept this weekend at the Le Mans 24 Hours. While the concept originally made its debut last fall, the big news accompanying this weekend’s debut is that Toyota has confirmed that it’s working on a new super sports car.

The GR Super Sport Concept featured hybrid electric technology expertise that through Toyota gathered through its participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The concept is powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine and the Toyota Hybrid System – Racing (THS-R) that generates a combined 1,000 horsepower.

For the new sports car, Toyota will use hybrid electric systems and fuel efficiency technologies that the TGR WEC team have tested and refined during six years of competition in the WEC.
