Following the surprise “do not buy” rating that the Lexus GX 460 received from Consumer Reports, Toyota has decided to conduct safety tests on all of its SUVs. Toyota has stopped sales of the Lexus GX 460 due to the report of a rollover risk.

Consumer Reports discovered that the rear of the SUV can slide sideways during testing before the stability control kicks in. Under certain conditions if the vehicle were to slide it could potentially lead to a roll over.

Toyota has sold 5,400 2010 GX 460 models in the US and Canada, but has suspended sales of the SUV in the US, Canada, the Middle East and Russia until a fix is found. According to Toyota none of the 5,400 owners of the 2010 model have reported any issues, but Toyota is taking the issue seriously.
