Japan’s Nikkei is reporting that Toyota will make plug-in technology standard on the Prius hybrid starting in 2014.
The plug-in Prius will be launched in 2012 with lithium-ion batteries, but it won’t be until two years later that the technology will become standard on the Prius. Toyota is apparently is hoping that the infrastructure that is necessary to support more electric vehicles on the road will be in place by then.
