The much anticipated Toyota FT-86 hasn’t even been released yet, but Autocar is reporting that Toyota is going to raise the price of the RWD coupe. Rising development costs are the reason for the price hike.

According to a Toyota insider the original goal was to have the price start around £13,000 ($20,000 US) but the base price has now shot up to £15,000 ($23,000 US) with the top model going for £17,000 ($26,000 US).

In addition to the increased price, the insider also claims that Toyota has increased the target age group by 10 years, from the 30s to 40s after research showed that fewer younger buyers would be interested in the coupe.
