According to Publication Holiday Autos, Toyota has decided to move forward with a different design for the upcoming FT-86 that is different than we saw at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show and the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. It is being reported that Toyota has chosen a new alternative design by Toyota’s North American design studio (Calty Design Research). The new design has yet to be unveiled, but the sketch above should provide some hints of the new design direction.

It seems that the original design was rejected the month after it was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. The new design is said to have less aggressively carved and curved surfaces, will feature increased overhangs. It will also have a higher front fascia. Although the design has changed the wheelbase and overall dimensions are the same.
