Toyota officially announced today their plans to build the new Toyota Highlander in northeast Mississippi. The plant will be located near Tupelo, will cost the company $1.8 billion, and employ 2,000 workers.

The plant is supposed to be up by 2009 and produce as many as 150,000 gas powered 2010 Highlanders per year (hybrid models will continue to be produced in Japan).
