Toyota has released the first photos of the new Toyota Crown concept that it’s bringing to the Tokyo Motor Show. The concept is a preview of the next-generation Toyota Crown that will reach showrooms in Japan by next summer.
The current Toyota Crown has been on the market since 2012, so it’s about time for a new one. The next Crown will switch to the TNGA platform, which is also used by models like the 2018 Camry and the Prius. According to Toyota, the new platform will “offer customers the enjoyment of driving cars while pursuing a future mobility society.”
The new Crown will likely be lighter with better driving dynamics, since Toyota says that the driver will “enjoy the driving experience.”
The new Crown will also be equipped with Data Communication Modules that will provide vehicle-to-vehicle communications. The Crown will be able to gather information about traffic and other cars on the road.
