The Launch of the Third-Generation Prius is Being Delayed to Spring 2009

Toyota is going to postpone the launch of the next-generation Toyota Prius to Spring 2009. The original intro date was supposed to be fall 2008, but due to battery issues the car is being delayed.

Toyota recently announced that they are going to delay the use of lithium-ion batteries in the new model, due to safety concerns. (Most of us should remember the exploding laptop batteries from last year) For now the automaker is going to continue to use the same type of batteries in the current Prius.

According to Toyota the official launch date of the new Prius was never announced and that when they feel the car is ready, it will be released.
