From the front the 2017 MDX now has a new face, which was previewed in January by the Acura Precision Concept. Its new pentagon grille is integrated with a new hood, fenders and restyled Jewel Eye headlights. The rear of the 2017 MDX gets a revised rear bumper and two more tailpipes to give it a sportier look.

The new MDX Sport Hybrid is the third model in Acura’s lineup to use its three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain, following the introductions in the RLX sedan and new NSX. The MDX Sport Hybrid features a 3.0L V6 that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated electric motor that powers the front wheels, while a two electric motors power the rear wheels. The system generates a total 325 horsepower, which is 25 more horsepower than the standard MDX. The MDX Sport Hybrid is rated at 25/26 mpg, which is a 7-mpg city fuel economy rating increase over the (non-hybrid) MDX with SH-AWD.

The restyled MDX will arrive in showrooms this summer, but you’ll have to wait until later this year to the get the MDX Sport Hybrid.
