Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk recently joined a web chat on Jalopnik, where he discussed the future of Tesla and what the electric car company could release next. Currently Tesla offers models like the Tesla Roadster and the new Model S sedan, but according to Elon Musk, a Tesla supercar could one day join the Tesla lineup.
“Yes, we will do an electric supercar at some point. It was going to happen right after the Model X, but it is more important to the world that we do a more affordable electric car. Hopefully, we will get to an electric supercar in 4 to 5 years.”

Elon Musk didn’t provide any other details about the future Tesla supercar, but you can expect it to pack more power and performance than the current Tesla Roadster if it’s going to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini.

It’s also being reported that Tesla is preparing a new smaller model that will compete with the BMW 3 Series when it is released sometime around 2015.
