Elon Musk has just announced that Tesla plans to have robotaxis on the road in the US as early as next year. The robotaxis will navigate without the need of a driver, which could be huge if Tesla manages to meet that timeframe.
“Probably two years from now we’ll make a car with no steering wheels or pedals,” Musk stated.
The new self driving robotaxis are closer to becoming a reality thanks to a new microchip from Samsung Electronics. The new chip required a massive investment, but Tesla hopes that it will give the automaker an advantage over its rivals.
“A year from now we’ll have over a million cars with full self-driving, software, everything.”
