Following a report last week where Consumer Reports criticized the Tesla Model 3 for its poor braking performance, Tesla has quickly released a firmware update to hopefully help the Model 3 improve the brakes. Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent out a tweet that mentioned that the firmware update starting going out on Friday.

According to Elon Musk, the firmware update should improve the Model 3’s braking distance by around 20 feet during repeated heavy braking distances. This will be a nice improvement, since Consumer Reports claimed that in its tests, the Model 3 took 7 feet longer to stop than the Ford F-150 at at 152 feet from 60 mph.

We’ll be curious to see if this does improve the Model 3’s braking performance, but if it doesn’t Tesla is prepared to do whatever it takes to fix the issue, since Elon Musk also sent out a tweet that stated that Tesla would even do a “physical upgrade” if it’s needed.
