Meet Shelby Supercars’s (SSC) latest creation, the Tuatara Concept, which gives SSC the title of having the fastest production supercar, which was previously held by Bugatti.
The Tuatara gets its name from a modern day lizard found in New Zealand. The Tuatara lizard has the fastest evolving DNA in the world and that fast paced evolution is how SSC’s designers envisioned their new supercar. Jerod Shelby, who founded SSC stated, “Most manufacturers essentially use the same basic model and body shape for up to 10 years, while only making small refinements to it each year. After only three years in production with the Ultimate Aero, SSC’s Tuatara is about to monumentally evolve in the areas of sophistication, design, aerodynamics and shear all-around performance. We felt that the fastest evolving DNA was a perfect definition of SSC’s latest project.”
The Tuatara is powered by a twin-turbocharged 7.0L V8 with 1,350 horsepower that is mated to a seven-speed transmission.
