Honda has announced the pricing the updated 2019 Honda Pilot, which starts at $32,445 including the destination fees. The 2019 Pilot gets a small facelift with redesigned front and rear fascias, updated technology and some powertrain updates.
On the outside the 2019 Honda Pilot gets a redesigned face that’s more aggressive thanks to a new front bumper and a redesigned grille with the latest interpretation of the Honda “flying wing” grille design. The front fascia is topped off with new LED low-beam headlights and a “skid” garnish at the bottom of the front bumper. The rear of the 2019 Pilot gets smaller updates with new taillights, a new bumper, and chrome accents. Lastly the 2019 Pilot rides on new 18-inch or 20-inch wheels.
Inside the 2019 Pilot’s interior gets new trim around the vents, available 3-way heated front seats, and wider fold-down armrests for the driver and front passenger. Second-row captain’s chairs are now available on both Touring and Elite models and second-row retractable sunshades are available on EX-L, Touring and Elite grades. A power tailgate is also available now.
On the technology front, the 2019 Honda Pilot gets a new Display Audio system that Honda says is easier to use. A redesigned instrument cluster features a new, larger thin-film transistor screen, the Rear Entertainment System has been upgraded with a larger screen and the Pilot is also now available with a 4G LTE-based Wi-Fi hotspot. Lastly you can charge your cell phone wirelessly with the new wireless smartphone charging system.
The 2019 Pilot is powered by the same 3.5L V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft. of torque. Lower trim levels get a six-speed automatic, while the Touring and Elite trim levels get a nine-speed. For 2019 the nine-speed automatic has been updated so that when it’s set in drive and under light-to-moderate acceleration, the transmission will start in second gear to give it a smoother launch. The transmission also defaults to second-gear launches when the Intelligent Traction Management (ITM) switch is in Snow mode. At full throttle, with steep grades, in S mode, or with the ITM in Sand or Mud, the 9AT will start in first gear. The Pilot also has an upgraded Idle Stop system.
Lastly all 2019 Pilot models come standard with the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, which includes the Collision Mitigation Braking System with Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, the Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
