Porsche has yet to officially reveal the production version of the Mission E electric car, but it recently let Porsche brand ambassador and former FIA World Endurance Champion, Mark Webber get some time behind the wheel of a prototype. Webber was able to put a thinly disguised Mission E prototype on Porsche’s test track at Weissach to get his initial impressions of the new EV.

“It’s a game changer, this car. Quite literally, it is stealth in motion,” stated Webber. “The gorgeous view from inside the cockpit over the front wheel arches is pure 918 and the way the four-wheel drive system puts its 600 hp down simply sensational.” Since Webber is a brand ambassador for Porsche, he might have exaggerated his opinions a bit, so we’ll have to wait and see, but either way the Mission E will be a significant new introduction for the EV segment.

“I’m a bit of an old-school kind of guy and I love nothing more than to drive so I don’t mind admitting I had some reservations. I thought that the Mission E could feel a little heavy but the driving experience is seriously dynamic: the four-wheel steering, the performance and the braking ability were a really amazing experience.”

We still have to wait until 2019 when Porsche will finally reveal the production version of the Mission E.
