Ivan Espinosa, Nissan’s corporate vice president of Global Product Strategy and Product Planning, spoke to MotorTrend at the Tokyo Motor Show, where he stated that the new Frontier “is a priority” and that it will be unveiled next year. “I think it will be a home run,” he added.

The 2021 Frontier will be based on the same platform as the current model, but it will get several modifications to bring it up to date, this includes updates to allow for the latest driver assist technology. Under the hood there will also be a new engine, but don’t expect any electrified powertrains.

What can we expect the 2021 Frontier to look like? Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Global Vice President of Design, revealed that the 2021 Frontier will have the “spirituality of adventure” and a “strong,” more extraverted look.
