Subaru is launching an all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza this fall, but we have yet to see what Subaru has in store for the high-performance WRX and WRX STI variants. Automotive News is reporting that Subaru is going to separate the WRX and WRX STI from the Impreza, by dropping the Impreza name on the two high-performance models. In 2013 The WRX and WRX STI will also move to a different platform.
The move allows the Impreza sedan and five-door models to focus more on fuel-economy and interior space, two things that are important in its segment. Once the new WRX and STI are released in 2013, they will move to a new platform that will place greater emphasis on performance. While the interiors and features of the next WRX and WRX STI will also be more aligned with the models’ higher price premium over the Impreza.
