Ever since the Mini Rocketman concept was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March there have been reports claiming that the concept would be produced and at the same time reports claiming the opposite. Here’s another report claiming that the minicar may never see life in a Mini showroom.

Autoweek is reporting that BMW executives have not signed off on the Mini Rocketman because of worries that the minicar would not be profitable. The Mini Rocketman is much smaller than the current Mini at 132 inches long, but it’s 26 inches longer than its main competitor, the Smart ForTwo.

The Mini Rocketman would have to be much cheaper than the standard Mini, but unfortunately it is expected to cost nearly as much to produce.
