If you were excited about the possibility of a Dyson electric car you’ll be sad to hear this bit of news. Dyson founder, James Dyson has announced that it is killing its plans for an electric car, which was slated to go into production in 2021.

In an email to all employees, Dyson announced that it is abandoning its plans for an EV, which was going to be built in Singapore. In the email, Dyson stated “We simply can no longer see a way to make it commercially viable.”

Dyson says that the reason it decided to kill the plans is because it failed to find a buyer for the project. The $2.5 billion investment for the electric car isn’t completely wasted, since Dyson will continue to work on the project’s IP and solid-state battery tech.
