Bugatti has taken the wraps off a new special edition of the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, the Jean-Pierre Wimille edition, which honors Jean-Pierre Wimille. Don’t know who that is? Jean-Pierre Wimille won the Le Mans 24 Hours race in the Bugatti Type 57G Tank in 1937 and 1939.
The Jean-Pierre Wimille edition is inspired by the 1937 Bugatti Type 57G Tank. The limited edition model is painted in dark and light blue like the 1937 model. Inside the blue theme continues with with the headliner, seat inserts and footwells all colored in the same color as the exterior.
Under the hood its powered by a 8.0L W16 engine with 1,184 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft. of torque. All that power means that it accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds!
“With our first Legend ‘Jean-Pierre Wimille’ we are celebrating Bugatti’s racing life, which experienced a meteoric high point with the Le Mans victory of 1937,” said Wolfgang Schreiber, president of Bugatti. “Bugatti has a strong tradition. Our customers and fans have a great understanding of the brand’s history.”
