A few months ago it was reported that GM is looking at reviving the Hummer brand for a new range of electric SUVs and now another new report claims that an electric Hummer could arrive by 2023.

According to Reuters, GM is reportedly going to start building a new lineup of electric pickup trucks SUVs at its Detroit-Hamtramck plant at the end of 2021. The electric trucks and SUVs would give GM a rival to Rivian’s electric truck and SUV. The report claims that the GM is working on a new BT1 electric truck/ SUV project, which is part of a $3 billion investment at the plant to make electric trucks and vans.

Sources revealed to Reuters that GM will start building the low-volume BT1 electric pickup truck in 2021, under a different brand. A performance version of the pickup is slated to arrive in 2022, followed by an electric SUV in 2023. According to one source, the Hummer name is being considered, but the plan hasn’t been finalized.
