New Baby Jaguar to Come After the Next XF

It’s been reported that Jaguar is planning a new entry-level sedan that would compete with the 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. According to Autocar the new small sedan will not be released before the next-generation XF. jaguar_b99_bertone_concept_fr.jpg

The original plan was to release the new small Jaguar and a SUV based off the same platform by 2014, which was a year ahead of the new XF in 2015. But the next-generation XF is now being placed as a higher priority and will be released before the new smaller sedan.

According to Adrian Hallmark, “We definitely won’t kill today’s XF with a new small car. We’ll kill it with the new XF.” The next XF is expected to move up in size to compete with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. To remain competitive with the 3 Series and C-Class, the new small Jaguar will be about the same size as today’s XF, which explains why the new XF has to be released first.
