Mercedes-Benz will soon release the first electric vehicle for the Maybach sub-brand and it’s giving us a preview of it with the Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS, which is a “near-production one-off.” The EQS SUV is slated to arrive in 2023 and will rival other luxury SUVs, like the BMW iX.

When it arrives, the EQS SUV will feature front and rear electric motors and around 370 miles of range on the European WLTP cycle. The more stringent EPA testing will yield a lower driving range. The EQS Concept features the design details we expect from Maybach, like its two-tone paint, 24-inch wheels and chrome rear spoiler.

The concept also has automatic front and rear doors with the handles popping out as you approach it and then the doors fully open by themselves. Inside the interior is all about luxury with its comfy four seats and a floating center console that has storage for things like champagne flutes, folding tables or a refrigerator.

There will also be a standard Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV for buyers that don’t need something as over the top as a Maybach. It’s expected to go into production next year.
