Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the US-spec version of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan, which will go on sale late this year. The 2019 E53 sedan replaces the E43 and is powered by an electrified 3.0L six-cylinder engine with 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque that’s mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2019 E63’s 3.0L engine has been electrified with a 48-volt electrical system that’s powered by an EQ Boost starter generator. The EQ Boost starter generator not only serves as an alternator, but is also responsible for hybrid functions. The hybrid functions include adding up to 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque, energy recovery, gliding mode and the virtually imperceptible restarting of the engine with the start/stop function.

The E53 sedan’s powertrain sends its power to the ground via all four wheels and has a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. It has an electronically-limited top speed of 130 mph.

The 2019 E53 sedan stands out from the other E-Class models with its unique hood that features two power domes and its round twin tailpipe trim elements in high-gloss chrome. The rear bumper gets a more aggressive look and the E53 sedan rides on new optional 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels.

The E53 will also be available as a coupe and convertible.
