Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its answer for the future of urban mobility with the debut of the Vision Urbanetic concept. Thanks to its skateboard chassis, the Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic concept has the ability to take many forms, like a people-mover or cargo van.
The Vision Urbanetic concept’s skateboard chassis is the main focus of the concept with its fully electric powertrain with autonomous driving capability. Mercedes-Benz says that the chassis has been designed to accept several different body types that can be swapped out in a matter of minutes. Meaning that the Vision Urbanetic could start out the day as a cargo van to deliver packages, but at the end of the day it could be easily converted to a people-mover that’s capable of carrying up to 12 passengers.
The Vision Urbanetic concept’s cargo van body has up to 353 cubic feet of space and two different levels for cargo.
Since the Vision Urbanetic concept has the ability to take many different forms it has the ability to reduce congestion, by reducing the number of idle vehicles. It can also stay on the road 24/7 without the need of a human driver.
