Mazda has confirmed that it will finally add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across its lineup by the end of the year. This is great news since Mazda’s current infotainment system feels like one of the oldest in the industry.

Mazda confirmed to Australia’s Car Advice that it will retrofit Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on models equipped with MZD Connect. “Mazda Australia will offer, by year’s end, an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade kit, which will work seamlessly with the MZD Connect system. It will be available for all customers with an MZD Connect system that first went on sale with Mazda 3 in early 2014.”

We don’t know how much the retrofit will cost, but the process will be pretty seamless. Mazda hasn’t made the same announcement in the US, but we do already know that the refreshed Mazda6 is getting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so it shouldn’t be too long until the rest of the lineup gets the update.
