Maserati gave us an official preview of its upcoming SUV in Frankfurt last month with the Kubang concept. Maserati chose to reuse the name from a previous SUV concept for the new concept, but that name may not be used for the production model.
It’s being reported that Maserati recently registered the name “Cinqueporte”, which may be the official name for the new SUV. Cinqueporte translates to “five doors”, which provides some proof that it will be used for Maserati’s SUV.
The Maserati SUV will share its platform with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but will be powered by engines from Ferrari. It will also be built alongside the Jeep at Chrysler’s Jefferson North plant in Detroit, MI.
