Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne has confirmed that Maserati will introduce a second SUV by 2020. The second Maserati SUV will share its DNA with Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which means that it will be smaller than the Levante SUV.

The new smaller Maserati SUV will help Maserati sell up to 80,000 a vehicles a year and boost its annual earnings to 1 billion euros ($1.18 billion). The baby Maserati SUV will be based on Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform, but it may get a different powertrain to differentiate it from the Stelvio.

The second Maserati SUV will rival models like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, although it will have a higher price tag.
