Lexus is expected to unveil a new concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall and according to reports the vehicle is set to be a five-door hatchback. The hatchback is expected to be a head to head competitor with BMW’s 1-series and Audi’s A3.
The production version is likely to carry the ‘BS’ or ‘CS’ name and it will be powered by the same 2.4L hybrid powertrain as the HS 250 hybrid. Although it will borrow the HS powertrain it will not be built on the same platform, but it will also be front-wheel-drive.
The concept is expected to be a 90 percent match of the production model that is expected to go on sale at the end of 2010.
