With 650 horsepower on tap, a 0-62 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph, the 2019 Lamborghini Urus is definitely worthy of its badge. Lamborghini has officially unveiled the 2019 Urus today ahead of its arrival next spring.
Lamborghini calls the Urus the “first Super Sport Utility Vehicle” due to the fact that it elevates the SUV to new performance heights. The Urus is powered by a 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 650 hp and 627 lb-ft. of torque. That’s good enough to help the SUV reach 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, 124 mph in 12.8 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph – making it the fastest SUV available.
The V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system with torque vectoring. Torque is split 40/60 in normal conditions, but the system can send a maximum amount of 70 percent to the front or 87% to the rear based on certain driving conditions. The active torque vectoring system enables power to be instantly distributed to each individual rear wheel for enhanced traction, depending on the driving mode, driving style and the road grip.
There are also six driving modes: Strada, Terra (off-road), Neve (snow), Sport, Sabbia (sand) and Corsa. Rear steering taken from the Aventador S varies the steering angle up to +/- 3.0 degrees.
On the outside its easy to tell that the Urus is a Lamborghini with its the two-thirds body, one-third window ratio of Lamborghini super sports cars, while inside there is room for up to five passengers. You can also select a sportier two-seat rear layout if you don’t need space for five.
Once inside you’re greeted with the finest leather, Alcantara, aluminum, carbon fiber and wood. The Urus features Unicolor leather and trim in either Nero Ade or Grigio Octans and five additional optional colors. Dual-color Bicolor Elegante and Bicolor Sportivo options are available in both leather and Alcantara. Buyers can also customize the stitching on the seats, plus the colors of the seat belts, floor mats and carpet. The dashboard trim is finished in Piano Black and Brushed Aluminum, but Open Pore wood including a combination with aluminum, and a carbon fiber trim are options.
On the technology front, tthe Lamborghini Smartphone Interface allows fully integrated connection of iOS and Android smartphones, supporting the Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Baidu-Carlife. A sound system with eight speakers is standard, but a Bang & Olufsen Sound System with 3D sound and 21 speakers is optional.
The 2019 Lamborghini Urus will arrive in the spring starting at $200,000.
