We’ve been talking about the new Ford Bronco so much, that Jeep has struggled to keep the Wrangler in the conversation. We already know that the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is set to debut this week, but now Jeep has announced the updates to the 2021 Jeep Wrangler.

2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel

The big tech upgrade for the 2021 Wrangler is a new TrailCam, which is a forward-facing camera that lets you know what’s in front of you via the 8.4-inch touchscreen, which is accessed through the available Off-road Pages. The Wrangler Rubicon also gets an Off-Road Plus mode that adjusts the throttle, transmission shift points and traction control. There are two more USB ports to charge your phone and a Select Tire Fill Alert system is now standard with 7- and 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreens and is also included in the Technology Group.

The 2021 Wrangler Sport can now be equipped with a Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case with full-time four-wheel drive and a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. A Rock-Trac 4×4 system with full-time four-wheel drive and a “4LO” ratio of 4:1 is optional on Rubicon models.

The powertrain options carry over, which includes the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.6-liter V6, 3.6-liter e V6 eTorque mild-hybrid and a 3.0-liter V6 diesel.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler also gets two new versions, the 80th Anniversary Edition or the Wrangler Islander. The 80th Anniversary Edition features optional leather seats with Granite Crystal interior accents, a three-piece black hardtop, 18-inch wheels with Granite Crystal finish and exterior badging. The Islander adds an Islander “Jeep Tiki” decal on the hood, black side steps and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 32-inch tires, and an optional white hard top. Sadly Jeep hasn’t released photos of either the Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition or the Wrangler Islander.
