Chrysler’s CEO Sergio Marchionne recently confirmed that the Jeep Wrangler is slated to get Chrysler’s new 3.6L Pentastar V6, but it won’t happen until the 2012 model year.

The Pentastar V6 debuted first in the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and is now making its way through the rest of the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. Unfortunately even though the 2011 Jeep Wrangler got a significant upgrade to its interior, buyers will have to make due with the underpowered 202-hp 3.8L V6 for another year. The Pentastar V6 puts out anywhere between 283-hp and 305-hp depending on the vehicle.
