Jeep is expected to debut the next-generation Jeep Wrangler in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but we’ve already received a lot of juicy details about the new Wrangler, including a leaked photo. While the Jeep Wrangler (JL) will debut in a few months, there’s still a lot that we don’t know about the upcoming Jeep Wrangler pickup (JT), but a new rumor suggests that it might be called the Scrambler.
JLWranglerForums is reporting that the new Wrangler pickup will be called the Wrangler Scrambler when its introduced next year. The last time that Jeep used the Scrambler name was for the CJ-8 pickup in 1986. Jeep recently renewed the trademark for the Scrambler name in 2015, which hinted that it could be used again.
The Jeep Wrangler pickup is expected to use an extended version of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler’s JL platform. The new Wrangler is also expected to drop a few pounds thanks to the use of lighter aluminum. The Wrangler pickup is expected to get a three-piece removable roof, just like its predecessors. There will also reportedly be three roof options available: a black three-piece hard top, a body color three-piece hard top, and a black Sunrider soft top.
The next-generation 2018 Wrangler is expected to go on sale early next year, which will be followed by the debut of the Wrangler pickup by the end of 2018. Sales of the Wrangler pickup are expected to start in 2018 as a 2019 model.
