Later this year the all-new 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Coupe is going to arrive in showrooms, which will be followed by the convertible version. Now it’s being reported by the guys over at Motor Trend that GM is currently working on a low-cost Corvette for the 2015 model year. A new “cheaper” Corvette would be great for enthusiasts that may be turned off by the Corvette Stingray’s starting price, which has yet to be announced.
What would a new cheaper Corvette actually be like? Well Motor Trend is reporting that it would not get the “Stingray” name and would only be called the Corvette Coupe. It would also not get the new 450-hp 6.2L V8 from the Corvette Stingray, but instead will be powered by a version of GM’s new 5.3L V8 with around 400 horsepower. The Corvette Coupe will also get a unique front fascia and a modified rear diffuser.

The outgoing 2013 Corvette starts at $50,595 and the Corvette Stingray is expected to remain pretty close to that, so that means a Corvette Coupe would start somewhere below $50k. Stay tuned…
