Infiniti is expanding its lineup with two new compact models, the Q30 hatchback and the QX30 crossover, and although both models will be sold in the U.S., Infiniti has a slight twist. Rather than market both nameplates in the U.S., Infiniti has decided to sell both models under the QX30 name.

The move is obviously a response to America tastes that unfortunately don’t favor traditional hatchbacks. So even though the Q30 hatchback will be sold here, it will be sold as the QX30 to hopefully slightly disguise its true hatchback roots. The slightly higher-riding QX30 will be called the QX30 AWD. Lastly the QX30S model will be a lower-riding model that will have a more aggressive front and rear fascia, cross-drilled front brake rotors, 19-inch wheels and performance tires.

In the U.S. the QX30 will be powered by a 208 horsepower, 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that’s mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. All three models will arrive in the U.S. by mid-2016.
