Infiniti is working on an the next-generation QX50 crossover, but it won’t arrive until the 2019 model year, so rather than continue to build the current “aged” crossover, the QX50 won’t be offered for 2018.
According to Motor Authority, the Infiniti QX50 will take a year off, while Infiniti focuses on the final touches to the 2019 QX50. The new QX50 was previewed by the QX50 concept earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show and the production version isn’t expected to differ much from the concept.
Another model is also disappearing, but for good, the slow-selling QX60 Hybrid. The recent updates to the QX60’s non-hybrid powertrain brought its fuel economy specs closer to the hybrid (22 mpg combined vs. 26 mpg combined). The QX60 was already being phased out in 2017, since you could only order it, so now Infiniti has put the final nail in the coffin.
Two months ago it was also confirmed that the QX70 crossover is dead as well.
