Infiniti is reportedly going to reveal a new performance oriented electric car at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January. The electric car we’ll see in Detroit will reportedly be a concept model, which will preview Infiniti’s new EV that will arrive in 2019.
Infiniti’s Design boss Alfonsa Albaisa confirmed to Autocar that the new standalone EV won’t be related to the Nissan Leaf or any other vehicle in the Infiniti lineup. Instead it will get its own unique platform. Parts of the Infiniti Prototype 9 that we saw during Monterey Car Week will be used for the new EV.
What’s still unclear is if the new Infinti EV will be a sports sedan or something similar to the Emerg-E concept that Infiniti showed off in 2012. Infiniti boss Roland Krueger revealed to Autocar that he’s already driven an early prototype, describing it as “very good”.
