Hyundai to Invest $173 Million in Alabama Plant

Hyundai is going to invest $173 million to expand its engine plant in Alabama. The expansion of the plant is expected to be completed this fall, with production kicking off in March 2012.

The plant is going to produce the 4-cyl engine for the popular Elantra. The investment in the plant will create 214 new jobs and increase Hyundai’s engine capacity by 300,000 units per year. The investment is also going to allow Hyundai to build more engines for the midsize Sonata.
