Honda has announced the pricing for the 2017 Honda Clarity Electric, which is going to arrive in California and Oregon in August. The 2017 Clarity Electric will only be available as a lease, but you can lease it for $269 a month for 36 months.
The 2017 Clarity Electric’s 89 mile driving range may be an issue
The Clarity Electric is powered by a 161-hp electric motor with 221 lb-ft. of torque. Rather than try to compete with models, like the Chevy Bolt or new Nissan Leaf with their longer driving ranges, the Clarity Electric is going to be at the low end. The Clarity Electric only has a driving range of 89 miles, but it can be fully recharged in just over three hours using a 240-volt charger. The EPA has rated the Clarity Electric at 126/103/114 MPGe.
The Clarity Electric’s lease requires $1,730 down, plus the first month’s payment and taxes due at signing. The three year lease will allow you to drive up to 20,000 miles per year and in California you are eligible for the state’s Clean Vehicle Rebate of $2,500.
“The Clarity Electric is the only affordable five-passenger EV sedan with all the technology, and safety and premium features a consumer expects today, including Honda Sensing® as standard equipment,”said Steve Center, vice president of the Connected and Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Honda customers have been asking for a true five-passenger sedan and we are pleased to make this a reality at an affordable lease price, enabling more consumers the opportunity to take home a zero-emissions vehicle.”
