Sadly Honda is saying goodbye to the Civic Type R in Europe, but it’s unveiled a new Ultimate Edition has the perfect send off for the iconic hot hatch.
The big question is why is Honda discontinuing the Civic Type R in Europe? According to Hannah Swift, Head of European Strategy and Product at Honda Motor Europe, “The industry is changing, and our model range is having to evolve with it in accordance with European legislation.” That essentially means that emissions regulations have forced Honda to drop the Civic Type R.
The Civic Type R Ultimate Edition features red decals across the hood and side, a black roof and a carbon fiber rear wing. Inside carbon fiber has been applied to the center console. When you open the front doors a Type R logo is projected onto the ground. Honda plans to only build 40 units of the Ultimate Edition.
Owners will also receive a unique matching gift box containing a numbered emblem – from one to 40 – and a carbon key ring, alongside custom-made floor mats, and a car cover.
