The current Honda S2000 is officially going to end production at the end of 2009. Honda has been rumored to be working on a replacement for the past few years, but Honda has yet to release any details about the S2000’s successor.
Now according to 7tune there are rumors that the successor will feature FWD and a 2nd-generation hybrid driveline that will be shared with the Accord. If this actually becomes a reality the next S2000 will share nothing with the current model expect the its name and the number of doors. The S2000 will also be a step above the new hybrid CR-Z. The hybrid S2000 will also feature a retractable hard top and is expected to go on sale in 2012.
Let’s hope that these rumors aren’t true…
