Porsche is set to debut its second hybrid model, the Panamera S Hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
The 2012 Panamera S Hybrid is powered by a supercharged 3.0L V6 that puts out 333 horsepower and that is mated to a 47 horsepower electric motor. The total 380 horsepower accelerates the Panamera from 0-62 mph in 6.0 seconds and it has a top speed of 168 mph. It can drive on electricity alone up to 1.24 miles and up to speeds as high as 53 mph. The Panamera S Hybrid also has a “sailing” mode that allows the system to disengage the gas engine at speeds up to 103 mph when its coasting along on the highway.
Sales of the Panamera S Hybrid are expected to start in Europe this summer with sales in the U.S. kicking off sometime after that.
