Ford has reportedly filed a new trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for something called the “Nautilus” but we don’t exactly know what it could be used for. The Nautilus name suggests that a new Ford model is in the works, but with its nautical themed name, what could Ford use it for?

A nautilus is a type of marine mollusc and of course the Nautilus name also brings back memories of the Mercury Villager Nautica from the 1990s. While the Nautilus name almost definitely will not be applied to a new Ford minivan, maybe it could be applied to another vehicle, like a new SUV. Of course there’s always the fact that a trademark doesn’t always guarantee that it will be used for a new model.

If the Ford Nautilus does become a new model, what do you think Ford should use it for?
