This weekend Ford is using the Detroit Auto Show to talk all about “performance.” It started with the debut of the 2019 Ford Edge ST and today Ford surprised the crowd with the debut of the 2019 Mustang Bullitt. Now Ford is talking about its future, by hinting at what we can expect from its new electric SUV.

It won’t arrive until 2020, but Ford is now hinting that it will use the Mach 1 name for its new performance electric SUV. Ford posted a video on Twitter, which says that the new performance concept is not only inspired by Ford’s past performance icons, but that it’s also been developed by the new Ford Team Edison.

The all-electric SUV is just one of several electrified models that Ford is working on. Last year Ford announced that hybrid versions of the F-150 and Mustang are in the works. Plus a plug-in hybrid Escape is also reportedly in the works.
