Ford, Walmart and Postmates have launched a new pilot test in Miami that uses self driving vehicles to deliver goods, like groceries, diapers and pet food to Walmart shoppers.
Ford originally started testing self driving vehicles in Miami earlier this year. The latest pilot will leverage Postmates’ ordering system to help shoppers select the items they need from Walmart, which will then be delivered in a self-driving Ford vehicle.
“Over the next couple of months, we’ll be working closely with Walmart to understand its operations, identify what goods we can feasibly transport, and pinpoint any issues that may need to be addressed to successfully deliver orders via self-driving vehicles.”
