Back in the summer of 1958, Fiat introduced the 500 Jolly, which was also known as the “Spiaggina.” To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Spiaggina, Fiat has unveiled the limited-edition 500 “Spiaggina ’58” and a cute showcar with the same name.
The Fiat 500 “Spiaggina ’58” features many design elements that are inspired by the Dolce Vita era, like its vintage logos and wheels, the white waistrail, the convertible bodystyle and the two-tone interior. It’s also painted in a special Volare Blue, which gets its name from the 1958 Sanremo Festival, when Domenico Modugno and Johnny Dorelli performed “Nel blu dipinto di blu”, the famous song also known as “Volare.”
Fiat is only going to produce 1,958 examples of the Fiat 500 “Spiaggina ’58” which will only be available as a convertible with the Volare Blue exterior color and a beige soft-top. Buyers in Europe will be able to choose from either the 69 horsepower 1.2 or 85 horsepower 0.9 TwinAir gas engines.
To further celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Spiaggina, Garage Italia and Pininfarina have created the one-off “Spiaggina by Garage Italia” show car that’s based on the 500C. On the outside the show car is painted in Volare Blue and Perla White, while the interior gets Garage blue finishes and matching interior upholstery. The roof, has been removed and the rear seat has been replaced by a spacious area that’s covered with slatted cork that recalls the design of teak floor boards on luxury yachts. There’s also a built-in “shower” to take all your beach essentials with you. The show car’s two front seats have been replaced by a vintage bench seat that’s wrapped in blue and white Foglizzo leather.
