Over the past few years electric cars have gained traction in the market with introductions like the Chevy Bolt, Model 3 and even the new Nissan Leaf. Now some automakers are making plans to electrify their entire lineups, like Volvo and Maserati. Now we can add Jaguar and Land Rover to that list.
Starting in 2020 every Jaguar and Land Rover model will be electrified. Jaguar Land Rover hasn’t released any other details about the plan, but this generally means that each of its models will either have a simply hybrid powertrain, a more advanced plug-in hybrid system or a fully electric powertrain.
We already know that the first fully electric model will be the Jaguar I-Pace.
“Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice. We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles. Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-Pace, goes on sale next year,” stated Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO.
